Halcyon Rolls-Royce Corniche
The remastered and electrified Rolls-Royce Corniche, hand-built in Surrey by Halcyon.
Peterson Instrument Co. worked closely with the Halycon design team to bring the ‘Highland Heather’ commission’s instrument renderings to life for its grand unveiling at the Concours of Elegance in Hampton Court Palace in September.
The project brief was to refurbish the original Rolls-Royce Speedometer, along with a custom re-printed face, and add a new screen hybrid 5-in-1 gauge to replace the Rolls-Royce 4-in-1 gauge that originally had illuminated central symbols. The render had a CANbus stepper-motor to four outer instruments with a central screen and graphics supplied by Halcyon. A custom 60mm clock was also required.

Painstaking hours were spent jigging the bespoke billet aluminium parts and dial faces for perfect registration and position of the print that had to be fitting for a Rolls-Royce interior. There were challenges with tight packaging requirements of the 5-1 gauge due to there being multiple stepper-motors as well as a screen, all while still being flood lit to keep the original feel of a Rolls-Royce analogue dashboard.

Halcyon also asked if we could manufacture the back-lit ignition barrel and drive selector face plates. With such similarities to the dial faces we manufacture, we were up for the challenge.

The Peterson Instrument Co. team are proud of the modern analogue instruments that have been produced for this Rolls Royce Corniche. The dial faces are presented in a light textured matte black, to reduce any reflection and to highlight the crisp edges of the machined aluminium bezel components. Our specialist anti-reflective glass sets everything off perfectly, so the new designs can be seen with perfect clarity.
